What's On TV Tonight - Saturday, 8 November 2025

Saturday night's a mix of shiny floor shows, Remembrance Day solemnity, and ITV2 wheeling out Star Wars again. If you're after glitter and celebrity sweat, Strictly's back. If you want something more substantial, BBC One's Festival of Remembrance delivers.
Table of Contents
Quick Picks: Tonight's Best
- ⭐ Strictly Come Dancing (BBC One, 6.25pm) - Week 7 results, someone's going home heartbroken
- Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance 2025 (BBC One, 9pm) - Moving tribute from the Royal Albert Hall
- Solo: A Star Wars Story (ITV2, 8.35pm) - Han Solo origin story that's better than you remember
- Midsomer Murders (ITV3, 7pm) - Headless horseman terrorising the villages
Early Evening: Family Viewing (6pm - 8pm)
Strictly Come Dancing - BBC One, 6.25pm
Week 7 and they're still all hanging on by sequined fingernails. Someone's getting the boot tonight, and you can bet Claudia will make them cry during the exit interview. The dances were decent last night but not spectacular - a few wobbly lifts, one near-disaster with a chair, and Craig being Craig.
Who's vulnerable? Whoever ended up in the bottom two dance-off, which we won't spoil here. But expect tears, standing ovations, and at least three montages of their journey.
The Chase Celebrity Special - ITV1, 6.55pm

Cheryl Baker, Laura Tobin, Jason Bell and Mark Steel taking on the Chaser. One will freeze, one will surprise you, and Bradley will laugh at the wrong moments. Saturday teatime comfort viewing - you know exactly what you're getting.
Darkest Hour - BBC Two, 6pm
Gary Oldman as Churchill, all cigar-chomping gravitas and wartime decisions. If you've not seen it, it's Joe Wright doing his thing - gorgeous cinematography, intense performances, and that Underground scene where Winston mingles with common folk (which absolutely didn't happen but works beautifully on screen).
Fitting programming ahead of tomorrow's Remembrance Sunday.
Prime Time: Saturday Night Specials (8pm onwards)
Michael McIntyre's The Wheel - BBC One, 8pm
The big spinning wheel returns with Ed Gamble, Jonathan Ross, Liz Bonnin, and Reverend Richard Coles as the experts. Someone's answering questions way outside their knowledge zone, Michael's doing that bouncy enthusiasm thing, and contestants are winning or losing ridiculous sums.
It's shiny, loud, and requires zero brainpower - exactly what Saturday prime time's for.
The 1% Club - ITV1, 8pm
Lee Mack's logic puzzle quiz where 100 contestants try to reach the final 1% question. Half of them will get knocked out on something embarrassingly simple, and you'll either feel smug or thick depending on how many you get right at home.
It's weirdly addictive and Lee's naturally funny without trying too hard.
Solo: A Star Wars Story - ITV2, 8.35pm

Alden Ehrenreich as young Han Solo in the origin story nobody asked for but turned out alright anyway. Yes, he's not Harrison Ford, but he's doing his own thing - meeting Chewie, the Kessel Run, that infamous card game with Lando.
Donald Glover steals it as Lando Calrissian, capes and all. It bombed at the box office after The Last Jedi divided fans, but it's a fun sci-fi heist movie if you don't overthink the Star Wars baggage.
Midsomer Murders - ITV3, 7pm

"The Dark Rider" - there's a headless horseman situation terrorising the villages, because of course there is. Barnaby investigates, suspecting it's not supernatural but some local with an axe to grind (and possibly an actual axe).
Two hours of quaint murder, ridiculous body counts for a sleepy county, and that calming theme tune. Peak Saturday night cosiness for the ITV3 crowd.
⭐ Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance 2025 - BBC One, 9pm
The big one from the Royal Albert Hall - moving, emotional, and essential viewing before Remembrance Sunday tomorrow. Music, tributes, veterans' stories, and that moment when the poppy petals fall. It gets you every time.
If you're staying in tonight, this is worth watching. The BBC does this brilliantly - respectful, powerful, and genuinely affecting.
Late Night: For Night Owls (10pm onwards)
Romesh Ranganathan's Parents' Evening - ITV1, 9pm

Romesh's mum and dad grill celebrity guests about their parenting fails. Tonight it's Robbie Savage, Helen Flanagan, and Tayce answering awkward questions from Shanthi and Ranga.
It's basically Romesh sitting there mortified while his parents roast famous people, and it's funnier than it has any right to be.
Vera - ITV3, 9pm

"Cold River" - Brenda Blethyn's back as the raincoat-wearing, no-nonsense detective investigating a businesswoman's dark secrets. Someone's dead in Northumberland, and Vera's got trust issues with everyone.
Two hours of northern grit and excellent character work. If you're avoiding Remembrance programming, this'll do nicely.
Girlbands Forever - BBC Two, 9pm
Nostalgic deep dive into British girl groups - from All Saints to Little Mix, Sugababes to Girls Aloud. Expect brilliant music, behind-the-scenes chaos, and industry horror stories about how badly they were managed.
Perfect late-night viewing if you want hits and drama without having to think too hard.
If You're Not Into Remembrance or Strictly
Dirty Dancing - ITV2, 6.25pm
Nobody puts Baby in the corner, and ITV2's not putting this film away either. Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey, that lift, and a soundtrack you can sing every word to. It's been on telly a thousand times, and you'll still watch it.
Lingo - ITV Quiz, 7pm

Adil Ray hosts the word puzzle game that's Wordle on telly, basically. Couples compete, letters light up, and you shout answers at the screen. Harmless fun.

The Festival of Remembrance is the standout if you want something meaningful, but if it's been a long week and you need mindless entertainment, Michael McIntyre's spinning wheel has you covered. Either way, you're sorted.
