Ross plans a jailbreak to save Jim's life

The growing success of the smelting company and Ross's successful bid for copper at auction only serve to anger George more than ever before, while Francis is increasingly volatile now he has lost his mine and is reduced to working the land. Ross and Zacky discover there is a fever at Bodmin Jail just weeks before Jim is due to be released, so Ross embarks on a desperate course of action to save his friend - making things awkward when he is later invited to a grand ball, where in his frustration he gets fighting drunk, leaving Demelza to fend for herself
