Cash-strapped Alison and Mike think all their problems have been solved when they inherit a grand country house, unaware that it is falling apart and teeming with the ghosts of former inhabitants. The spooks must act immediately to halt the new owners' plans to turn the house into a hotel, but their attempts to scare them away fail miserably.
